Just a few more days of high school teaching to go,
a few more times to sit in the teachers' lounge with those three microwellenherds, four round tables (complete with special salts and parmaesan cheese), one rickety tv, an orange vinyl bench seat I've never seen anyone sit on.
Then Toronto!
The last time I was in Toronto was for my high school orchestra trip. My memories are of hurrying to fasten red cumberbunds, running through a museum of science with my violin, bow, holding the hem of my extra-long skirt. Our orchestra teacher was young, perfect skin, but an old soul. She insisted on these blousy, ruffled shirts that were practically jerry seinfeld puff shirts.
I remember eating curly fries at arbys.
After Toronto i will teach summer school. Then I am jobless. It's possible a local uni will hire me to help freshmen learn how to write essays. It's possible i'll end up making mochas at the campus coffee shop. my freshmen coworkers will think i'm their age and start telling me how to steam lattes so that there isn't foam.
